Reliable and quick
I have always been a bit old school when it comes to navigating (Map and compass). That was until being caught in blizzard conditions up Scafell Pike with my Son who had a Dakota 20 device. I was really impressed with the help that it gave us and was set on buying one! The reason I eventually went for the Montana was the fact that the screen is big enough to not needing to put my glasses on to read the screen, unlike the smaller devices.
I have used it for about a year now and basically it does a great job. The hot fix is really quick, outside or indoors, it's that sensitive. Rechargeable battery lasts all day and it's a nice touch to be able to have 3 AA's to pop in for an emergency. The screen is fairly easy to navigate and works just as well with gloves on. USB connection to my laptop for uploading or downloading routes is straight forward and reliable.
I have used it in automotive mode and so doubles up as a car GPS, as the screen size is comparable. I'm soon to buy a...

Not sure
This is my first gps purchase. Using it for hill walking and sea kayaking. I can only compare to the iPhone google maps app.
Pros :
Fast and sensitive gps
Nice robust and water resistant case
Good battery life
Cons:
Clumsy user interface. Garmin really need to look at how others (apple, Samsung, etc) are using their touch screen. It has a feel of a device created 5 years ago.
Unfortunately it crashes occasionally the only way to recover is taking the battery out (software ver 3.9). I bought a garmin as they seemed to produce a high quality gps when compared to others. Have to admit to being dissapointed with the software crashing.

So overall it's ok. But I am not blown away. It's expensive when compared to other offerings ( when you add maps)
